After quite a while resting on my more or less laurels (past listings) it's time to get a move on and put up some more listings. My goal is five books every day from now on. This should be achievable, but not according to my past performance.

These books get listed in three places: on Amazon, Biblio, and Half. Books without ISBNs (older books) generally will not be listed on half. My prices might vary between these three places. Amazon and Half tell me competing prices, so I peg mine on them. Thus, if the lowest price for Deadly Percheron is $98 on Amazon, I might peg mine at $95. If it weren't my only copy maybe I'd be more reasonable. In fact, I think my Biblio listing is more reasonable.

Going forward (and possibly backward), links to titles of books will send you to the main Amazon listing. My listing will be somewhere amidst the other maybe 237 listings. This is where my photo of the book can be seen, which will probably be a better one than the one Amazon features. Half doesn't let me attach my own photo—at least I don't think it does. Photos are also at biblio. Lots of older listings still don't have photos. Nor updated prices.

I've been lousy at selling direct via email. Sorry about that, if you've tried me. Listing through the major portals keeps me honest—also prompt and reliable.

---Word from Gauntlet:
SOLICITATION FOR AS TIMELESS AS INFINITY: THE COMPLETE ROD SERLING TWILIGHT ZONE SCRIPTS VOL. 1

Gauntlet Press is taking orders for AS TIMELESS AS INFINITY: THE COMPLETE ROD SERLING TWILIGHT ZONE SCRIPTS VOL. 1 which is now at the printer (for an anticipated late-June release). This is the first of a 10-volume series that will contain all 92 scripts Rod Serling penned for the classic television series, edited by Tony Albarella. Each book will be presented in an oversized 8 x 11 format and will be reprinted directly from Serling's personal collection, currently housed in the Special Collections Archive at Ithaca College. The scripts will appear in their original format and will not be typeset or altered in any way. In many cases this includes Serling's handwritten changes or notations. The Ithaca material also includes some revisions and earlier script drafts that differ, to varying degrees, from the final shooting scripts. We'll include these variant details where appropriate to document the creative process and track the evolution of the stories.

Cover art is by Harry O. Morris. ALL copies are signed by Carol Serling, who authorized the project and has been working with the editor to help assemble each volume. Our plan is to publish one volume in 2004 and two (each spring and fall) starting in 2005.

The Table of Contents for Volume 1 is as follows:

1) The Time Element. This hour-long was not an official Twilight Zone, but the widely accepted unofficial pilot. It was a Desilu Playhouse production from 1958 about time travel. It got surprisingly good ratings and that's what encouraged CBS to consider Serling's "sci-fi/fantasy" proposal. This show is seldom seen and has never been offered in print in any form.

2) Where is Everybody? (the official pilot)
3) Eye of the Beholder
4) Third from the Sun
5) The Purple Testament
6) The Big, Tall Wish
7) A Most Unusual Camera. Two versions of this script are included with the book -- one that is the "final shooting script" and one that is a complete, alternate version that varies from the other in several respects.
8) The Mind and the Matter
9) The Dummy

Volume One is 488 pages in length.

AS TIMELESS AS INFINITY comes in two states

750 Numbered edition signed by Carol Serling for $66.

The 52 copy traycased Lettered edition will contain an alternate version to "Where Is Everybody?" and will be signed by Carol Serling, Richard Matheson and noted genre director Rockne O'Bannon (Farsacpe). $200 cover price. We can offer the same letters for each book in the series (we can't do this with the shrinkwrapped numbered version) and if you order THE TWILIGHT ZONES SCRIPTS OF CHARLES BEAUMONT VOLUME 1 (being laid out now, but not yet being solicited) we can also provide you a matching letter to go with the Serling edition.

Sincerely,
Lamont Ingram

---I see in the paper today that my NCAA finals picks are the same as sports columnist Mike Lopresti--and we both pick Okla. State to win it all. Not an uncommon choice, probably. I didn't research my choices very much, so I was not as impressed by descriptions of teams I know nothing about as I might have been had I read rundowns on the thing everywhere. I expect I will get a surfeit of useless--to me in the overall scheme of things--information come 11AM this morning and then just about all the rest of the day and Friday too. It would be great if I could identify my priorities and just read about it in the newspaper tomorrow.
03/16/04 TUE:
---That steady snow kept going until 15+ inches had accumulated. It was a bit of a chore to move off sidewalks and the driveway, but it sounds like it should melt away in a few days.

---Sent my brother in Atlanta my Final Four picks for our competition to see who is luckiest, or who wastes the most time following kids in long short pants. Mine are Kansas, Oklahoma State, Illinois and UConn. Finals between Okla. State and UConn have OSU winning the championship. Dave has it Kentucky, Florida, Duke, and NC State. You can see who the midwesterner and who the southerner are. His finals pit Kentucky against Duke with Duke triumphant. We will see about that. Our father's picks are in the mail. He continues to eschew email and even faxes. At nearing 80 years old I think he figures he can hold out forever. Having been ad sales manager of nascent personal computing magazines back when only of few visionaries could see over the horizon--visionaries he did business with--you might think he would be one of the oldsters getting with the program.

---Still a bit of winter here, with the snow falling at a pretty good pace this morning. It is drifting down peacefully, though: much preferable to the intense wind yesterday.

---Found a photograph of Neil at the O'Reilly Digital Democracy Teach-In in San Diega a few weeks ago. Speaking of Neil, he has decided to drop out from the Univ of Illinois, midway through the semester, to take a job in San Francisco writing computer code, an outgrowth of his work on DeanSpace. A couple other Illini dropouts will be there with him.

03/10/04 WED:
---Just ran 6.5 miles, continuing the road back to minimal conditioning following the month or so of hibernation when the winter snows were deep and unmelting. The first robin I noticed a couple days ago--a sure sign of spring.

03/09/04 TUE:
---Managed to put in a bit of quality time at the computer today. Still an endless list of things to take care of, but I get the feeling the harder I work at it the faster the list will grow. Welcome to the world of being a corporate individual, I guess. Better get used to it: you’d think I would have in 21 years.

03/08/04 MON:
---Still mighty slow to get a show on the road, but I am hoping my spring-cleaning project has at least reached a point where I don't have so much uprooted that I can't perform necessary functions. It is hard when I have toted books around and reshelved them for a while to change gears and sit at the computer and process orders or answer emails again. But I am hoping the resultant improvement in feng shui will produce a bookselling dynamo of renewed vigor. At any rate, a couple new ones here today from Sarob Press (the paperback edition of Mirror of the Night by E.C. Tubb) and Stark House (The Death Wish/Net of Cobwebs by Elisabeth Sanxay Holding).

With a bit of luck it will be out of print before the first review appears.

---Word from Necessary Evil:
“Hi Chris,
I was wondering if you might consider stocking the new Tim Lebbon book that
I am publishing. This is our first book from Necessary Evil Press and it
features one of the more popular authors in the genre.

Please check out the site at www.necessaryevilpress.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

03/05/04 FRI:
---I was trying to put up a shelf and move a few books around, taking an hour or so every day to get it done gradually, but like dominoes falling one thing led to another and now I am fully involved in reconfiguring half the cellar. This has me diverted from filling orders and answering emails, which are piling up even more than usual. If you are waiting on me for something: an answer to your email or a book shipment, please bear with me. When I get things so I don’t have to be so much of a high hurdler or a contortionist to pull or shelve books, I believe that my efficiency can’t help but improve. But that is usually the case anyway.

03/02/04 TUE:
---Have fallen behind a few days keeping up with this blog, even minimally. I just augmented the entry for 02/16/04. Otherwise, I will see what I can do to put more up here; but I am realizing that I have quite a few orders and unanswered emails that I need to apply myself toward.

---I have noticed that these entries don't always show up in the order I post them, if I put them up in quick succession. Hopefully they are close enough. I try to have at least a marker post for every day, so I can go back later and put things in where they belong. I don't believe the published blog has a Find function, but my Manage Posts window has a pretty good one. I suppose I could perform searches and email the results to anyone who wants to find any past listings they might be interested in seeing.
02/29/04 SUN:
---Leap Sunday!
02/28/04 SAT:
---Had a few used paperbacks getting in the way when I was putting up shelves, cullings from a paperback book sale back in March of 2000. They looked pretty good, so I went ahead and catalogued them instead of boxing them up for who knows when. The result is a new batch for insert-sheet printout:
